Looking at this schematic, you would think that 944 fires in banks of two injectors. This is not the case. All four injectors fire at once. What you do not see is that DME pins 14 & 15 are connected internally. This I discovered the first time I took the cover off a 944 DME. I believe they used two separated pins to split the current load and reduce heat damage of the main connector.
