Sometimes you want to turn your engine over while you are under the hood. It is surprisingly easy and costs maybe $10. Here is a Shade Tree Remote Starter.

Crimp a 1/4" blade connector onto one of the 2 leads. Find the 2 pin nylon connector just above the master cylinder. Disconnect it. Find the thick wire going to the starter and you put the1/4" blade there. The second lead on the starter goes to the battery +12V. Just press and hold the button to engage starter. Ignition key off or on.

You can make an emergency jump starter out of 6ft of wire and a 1/4" blade connector. I keep one in the car. It has bailed me out of trouble many times.
